AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) is a symmetric-key block cipher where the same key is used for both encryption and decryption. It supports key sizes of 128, 192, and 256 bits for varying security levels. In AES encryption, the secret key is used for both operations, while the Initialization Vector (IV) adds randomness, ensuring unique ciphertext even for identical plaintexts. The IV enhances security, especially in modes like CBC, by preventing repetitive patterns in encrypted data.
